NEWS
Other Ductile Cast Iron Accessories Industry knowledge

Yancheng Longwan Machinery Co., Ltd. is a China foundry producing ductile iron and grey iron castings to customer drawings, with molding, melting, machining and inspection under one roof in Yancheng, Jiangsu. As an Other Ductile Cast Iron Accessories manufacturer, we supply the non-standard parts that complete an assembly rather than a single named equipment family: brackets, housings, flanges, couplings, covers, mounting plates and supports.

This part of the range is quoted from drawings, samples or defined mating interfaces. Ductile iron is selected where a part has to carry pressure, impact or repeated mechanical load while holding machining tolerances across long production runs.

What We Manufacture in This Range

  • Pipe brackets, clamps, flanges, couplings and joints for fire-fighting, water supply and drainage lines
  • Valve components such as bodies, bonnets, wedges and end fittings
  • Bearing housings, end covers, pulleys and coupling parts for reducers and drive assemblies
  • Chassis brackets, mounting supports and small connectors for automotive and truck builds
  • Mounting plates, support brackets and gearbox-related castings for agricultural machinery
  • Arm supports, mounting brackets and sensor housings for industrial robots and automation frames
  • General machine accessories, building hardware and pipe joints for plant and infrastructure use

Where a part clearly belongs to a defined product family, it is listed separately in our catalogue — for example Ductile Cast Iron Valve Accessories or Ductile Cast Iron Reducer Accessories. Parts that sit outside those families stay in this group and are handled the same way technically: drawing review, pattern making, sampling and series production.

Application Fit Across Equipment Families

Material Selection and Metallurgical Control

Ductile iron differs from grey iron because magnesium treatment turns graphite into nodules rather than flakes, which raises tensile strength, impact toughness and fatigue resistance. That is why brackets, housings and load-bearing accessories in this range are usually specified in ductile iron even when the surrounding structure is grey iron.

Grade is agreed with the drawing and the load case. Accessory castings are commonly specified within the ISO 1083 / EN 1563 family, from GJS-400-18 and GJS-450-10 through GJS-500-7 and GJS-600-3, with ASTM A536 equivalents such as 60-40-18 up to 80-55-06. Higher-strength grades are chosen where stiffness and tensile demand dominate; the lower-strength, higher-elongation grades suit parts that see shock loading or low-temperature service.

Melt is produced in three 1.25 T medium-frequency electric furnaces. Chemistry is checked on a German SPECTRO direct-reading spectrometer, and nodularity, matrix structure and mechanical values are verified with a metallographic microscope, universal tensile testing machine, 3 T Brinell hardness tester and sonic velocity meter.

Molding Capacity and Configuration Options

Pattern equipment and the molding line are matched to casting size, wall thickness and annual volume. The configuration we propose for an accessory part depends on how the load path, wall sections and machining allowance interact with the available box size.

  • Vertical sand-shot, horizontal parting boxless shot-press line — 610 × 510 × 240 mm, 120 boxes/hour, suited to high-volume small parts
  • Upper and lower sand-shot, horizontal parting boxless shot-press line — 750 × 650 × 250 mm, 100 boxes/hour, suited to small and medium parts
  • Two fully automatic clay sand lines, one semi-automatic clay sand line and one coated sand line for cored internal geometry
  • Three cleaning shot blasting machines for as-cast surface preparation
  • Lost foam production line in planning for castings in the 100 kg to 1000 kg range
  • Automatic spray painting and electrophoretic coating lines in planning

Annual casting capacity stands at 15,000 t, which supports both series production and scheduled release orders for larger accessory programmes.

Machining, Tooling and Surface Condition

Not every accessory leaves the foundry as-cast. Three CNC lathes and three lathes allow us to turn, bore, face and thread the features that define the mating interface, so a part can arrive at your line ready for assembly rather than requiring a second machining loop.

  • Patterns and core boxes are produced from the approved drawing or sample before sampling begins
  • Machining scope is quoted per feature: bore, face, chamfer, thread, drilled or tapped holes
  • Cast-in datums and machining allowances are set so the first operation can locate the part consistently
  • Surface condition is agreed per drawing — as-cast shot blasted, or specified coating once the planned paint and e-coat lines are available

Quality Control and Acceptance Testing

Our quality system is built on IATF 16949:2016 practice, with inspection after each process step and a final check of completed parts against the drawing and agreed standard. Documented results travel with the shipment unless the order specifies otherwise.

  • Chemical analysis by direct-reading spectrometer on each heat
  • Tensile testing, 3 T Brinell hardness and sonic velocity checks on cast test bars or parts
  • Metallographic assessment of nodularity, graphite size and matrix
  • Magnetic particle and ultrasonic flaw detection for defined NDT levels
  • Molding sand control with SAC hammer-type sample making, SWY hydraulic strength testing, SSZ vibration sand screening and SGS double-disc infrared drying
  • Dimensional inspection of critical features, with customer or third-party witnessing arranged on request

Information We Use to Configure Your Solution

A workable quotation for this range depends on interface data, not on a catalogue number. The following inputs let us fix pattern layout, gating, machining scope and inspection plan before the mould is cut.

  • 2D or 3D drawings, or a physical sample with the critical interfaces marked
  • Material grade and governing standard, plus any impact or hardness requirement
  • Casting mass, envelope dimensions and maximum wall section
  • Annual volume, batch size and release pattern
  • Machining scope, datum strategy and GD&T callouts
  • NDT level, sampling frequency and required certificates
  • Coating or surface treatment specification
  • Marking, packaging, pallet configuration and delivery destination

Project Flow, Packaging and Delivery

  1. Drawing or sample review, quotation and confirmation
  2. Pattern and core box manufacture after the tooling order
  3. Sample castings submitted for dimensional and metallurgical approval
  4. Series production on the assigned molding line once samples are released
  5. Final inspection with the agreed documentation package
  6. Packing to the agreed specification and shipment

Sea freight is the standard route for series volumes, with air freight used for urgent samples. The Yancheng site sits close to Ningbo and Shanghai international airports and the Baiju Expressway, which keeps sample dispatch and container consolidation straightforward. Castings in this range supply programmes for customers including SAIC Group, Deere, Bonfiglioli (China), Shanghai Beixu and Yaskawa Electric.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of parts belong to Other Ductile Cast Iron Accessories?

This group holds ductile iron parts that complete an assembly but do not belong to a named family such as valve or reducer accessories. Examples include pipe brackets, flanges, couplings, bearing housings, end covers, mounting plates, support brackets, pulleys, sensor housings and general machine hardware.

Do you supply standard catalogue accessories?

No. We produce to customer drawings or samples, which means dimensions, material grade, machining scope and inspection requirements come from your specification rather than a fixed catalogue. Tooling is made specifically for each part.

Which ductile iron grades can be cast for these parts?

The grade is confirmed against the drawing and load case, typically within the ISO 1083 / EN 1563 series from GJS-400-18 to GJS-600-3, or the matching ASTM A536 designation. Chemistry, nodularity and mechanical values are verified by spectrometer, metallography, tensile testing, Brinell hardness and sonic velocity checks.

What casting sizes can the molding lines handle?

The boxless shot-press lines take moulds of 610 × 510 × 240 mm and 750 × 650 × 250 mm, covering high-volume small and medium parts. A lost foam line in planning is intended for castings from roughly 100 kg to 1000 kg, extending the range for larger accessory bodies.

How is quality confirmed before shipment?

Inspection follows IATF 16949:2016 practice: checks after each process stage, then a final dimensional and visual inspection of finished parts. Depending on the order, this includes spectrometer analysis, tensile and hardness results, metallographic examination, magnetic particle or ultrasonic testing, and a documented inspection report.

What do you need from us to quote an accessory casting?

Send the drawing or sample together with material grade, casting mass and envelope, annual volume and batch size, machining scope, NDT level, coating specification, marking and packaging requirements. With those inputs we confirm pattern layout, molding route, machining operations and the inspection plan, then return a quotation covering tooling and series parts.
